Anti-Ragging Policy

SCOURGE OF RAGGING IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE AS PER DIRECTIONS GIVEN BY THE HON’BLE SUPREME COURT OF INDIA. THE UGC HAS ALSO FRAMED REGULATIONS FOR CURBING THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.

What Constitutes Ragging?

  • Teasing, treating, or handling with rudeness.
  • Causing annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or fear or apprehension thereof.
  • Creating a sense of shame, torment, or embarrassment that affects the physique or psyche.
  • Disrupting or disturbing regular academic activity.
  • Exploiting students for completing academic tasks.
  • Financial extortion or forceful imposition of expenditures.
  • Sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, obscene or lewd acts and gestures, bodily harm.
  • Verbal abuse through spoken words, emails, posts, or public insults.
  • Acts affecting mental health and self-confidence.
  • Criminal intimidation or wrongful restraint.
  • Any behavior undermining human dignity.

Administrative Measures

A student indulging in ragging shall be subject to:

  • Cancellation of admission
  • Suspension from attending classes
  • Withholding or withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or evaluation process
  • Withholding results
  • Debarring from institutional representation in events, meets, and festivals
  • Suspension or expulsion from the hostel
  • Rustication from the institution for a specified period
