Admissions to MTech Programme: Masters program is being offered by OP Jindal University in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical & Materials engineering in the following areas:


Program Objective:

The MTech in Computer Science & Engineering is meant for graduates with good CSE/IT background, who are enthusiastic to be catalysts and part of the continuously evolving digital world. The program aims at creating a talent pool and technology leaders to take up future challenges of the technology driven world and to come at par with the competition arising at the global level. It intends to prepare the students to pursue careers inIT/Electronics industry or to start innovative technology-based startups and contribute to 'Digital India', 'Make in India', 'Startup 10K' and such similar initiatives.

Program Outline:

This program provides the foundation to impart perspective of the advanced technologies in Computer Science. The proposed program consists of four semesters. The first year syllabus is aimed at providing a solid conceptual foundation of the recent developments in various frontier domains of Computer Science and Engineering. To provide a stepping stone for the implementation of the concepts, sufficient weightage is assigned to the laboratory work as well.
In the second year students can choose various technology tracks for the project and research work. They are supposed to carry out case studies, internship, projects and R&D work, etc. They will be encouraged to take up live problems and innovative projects infusing spirit of entrepreneurship. They are expected to work on case studies and undergo internship at an external organization. All this will provide them with the opportunities to develop in-depth understanding of advance technologies and their application in Government and Corporate scenarios.

Program Objective:

MTech in Material Science and Technology is a challenging inter disciplinary program offering considerable variety and career opportunities across a wide range of industry sectors. The course has been designed to meet the requirements of industry and allow progression towards professional chartered status.

Through a judicious combination of lectures, labs and case studies, students develop a thorough understanding of the properties and capabilities of metals, ceramics, polymers and composites, which can then be applied to a wide range of industrial contexts including iron and steel making, automotive, power generation and distribution,aerospace, IT and manufacturing amongst many others.

The OP Jindal University is surrounded by many industries of sponge iron, steel, power, cement, structural steel and ceramic including its sister concern JSPL, JPL, NSPL and SSD in which students can pursue their important rudiments of academic like industrial visit, case study and problem solving, research series seminar and project work.

The main aim of the program is to prepare and make ready our M.Tech. students for careers in research, academic and industry.
OPJU M Teach program will be different from others through the following constructs:

Program Outline:

This Material Science and Technology course is designed to give the learner a wide overview of materials and processes used to transform them.

With a view towards developing both science and engineering skills, the program curriculum has been framed so as to incorporate and deliver on experimental, analytical, statistical, and computational tools & educational components of globally accepted standards in the materials discipline. The core courses include: Materials Science, Metallurgy, Materials Thermodynamics, Materials Characterization Techniques, Nanotechnology, and Polymer & Ceramic Materials. While the labs cover important aspects of synthesis, testing, and characterization. The electives are structured in such a way as to offer opportunities for acquisition of specialized and advanced knowledge in sub-disciplines. Students have the opportunity to pursue their projects either in-house or outside in reputed industrial or R&D institutions.

With a strong focus on developing research skills among the students in frontier areas, the program includes educational components that would make the graduates suited to, and employable in, industry, government R&D, and academic settings, spanning diverse areas such as metallurgy, ceramics engineering, polymer engineering, composites, Alloy design and Nanotechnology.


Program Objective:

This program is aimed for students who are passionate to make a bright career in three momentous distinct fields of their choice, namely, Industry, Education and Research. The programme will prepare a skilled industry workforce as well as an expert researcher who will be able to provide leadership in a world that is increasingly dependent on technology. The education delivery methodology is a blend of classroom, experiential learning, and industry exposure.

As a part of collaboration the Students will undergo a one-year internship and project work during the last year at the manufacturing industry. The career prospects in this sector are very promising as the automation industry is booming. Once the course is over, one can seek employment in automotive industry, large scale manufacturing, and product and service oriented industries. Apart from industries, there are also various opportunities in the institutional sector and R&D sector.

Program Outline:

M.Tech in Manufacturing Technology and Automation is a professional full time postgraduate engineering master degree program. It is a 2 year course and is divided in 4 semesters. This is an interdisciplinary program and is open for Engineering Graduates with Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Industrial, Manufacturing, Metallurgical and Mechatronics Engineering backgrounds. The programme focuses on areas such as advanced manufacturing process, Robotics, Industrial Automation, Computer integrated manufacturing, Mechatronics, digital manufacturing and IoT in Manufacturing. The University being located in close proximity to Jindal Steel & Power Plant. The course has been designed in such a way that at the completion student should have one year of industrial experience in Manufacturing Plants.

The program curriculum focuses on the following aspects.

  • Subject knowledge through course work.
  • Teaching experience through assistantships.
  • Research experience through the Research Seminars by experts from Institutes of repute and Industry.
  • Mandatory industry experience (with real roles as opposed to projects).
  • Industry oriented course with specialization in Robotics and Digital Manufacturing.
  • MTech Project with strong practical linkage.
  • 11- month long term industrial internship in reputed companies.

Program Objective:

This is an interdisciplinary program and is open for Engineering Graduates with Mechanical, Production, Automobile and Electrical & Electronics backgrounds. This program is aimed for students who are passionate to make a bright career in three momentous distinct fields of their choice, namely, Industry, Education and Research. The University being located in close proximity to Jindal Thermal Power Plant, the program provides bright prospects to students to gain practical knowledge of erection, testing, commissioning, operation & maintenance of modern power plants. It has been designed in such a way that at the completion student should have one year of industrial experience in Power Plants.

Program Outline:

The curriculum and pedagogy for MTech in Power Plant Engineering and Energy Management is brought to enable students with different backgrounds to understand the different facets of energy engineering. Students will be exposed to the status of energy resources, its interaction with environment, different renewable energy sources and technologies, different techniques and technologies for energy management and energy conservation along with their economic aspects. This is done through a balanced combination of class room teaching, industrial training and research.

The program curriculum focuses on the following aspects.

Program Objective:

More than 10000 students are receiving bachelor degree in engineering every year in Chhattisgarh from various institutes. It is well known that in Chhattisgarh there is a dominance of core sector industries like Steel, Cement, and Power etc. These industries require a good number of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Chhattisgarh would become 2nd largest power supplier in India in the coming days. Looking forward to this many of the students want to opt a master's degree for a batter career growth. Also having a MTech. degree allows them to pursue various other professions such as research & development, teaching, etc.
Scope of Power Electronics and Power System:
Power Electronics and Power System are the two highest demanded domains in Electrical & Electronics Engineering field. Power Electronics is also one of the most vital research and development topic in industries and institutions. The field of Power Electronics and Power System is changing very rapidly. Developments of advanced topologies of electrical machines have also widened the scope of power electronic controllers with smart-grid. This program focuses on imparting education in the field of power electronics and its applications in electrical machines, drives, industrial equipment, and power systems.

Program Outline:

The proposed program provides the breadth of domains covering all the layers of Power electronics and power system. This course includes subjects like Advance power electronics, SMPS, Converters, Power system design & analysis, Relay Technologies, smart-grid and energy management, etc.
The proposed program consists of four semesters. The first year syllabus is aimed at providing a solid conceptual foundation of the recent developments in various frontier domains of Power Electronics and Power System. In the second year students can choose various technology tracks for the project and research work. It will equip students with a distinctive opportunity to undertake innovative research and project work in collaboration with various government agencies and private organizations.Students are expected to undergo the research/project work in an external organization. They will be encouraged to take up live problems and innovative projects that lead to entrepreneurship.

Program Objective:

This course is designed to help the students improve their experience in structural engineering. Issues addressed in the course will help familiarize the student with common challenges in the design office and on the site.

Program Outline:

M.Tech. in Structural Engineering involves advanced study of the course’s components such as Structural Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, Structural Dynamics, Structural Reliability and Optimization, Reinforced and Pre-Stressed Concrete, Steel Structures, Design for Wind And Earthquake, Tall Buildings And Towers, Computer Applications In Structural Engineering, etc.

Eligibility*

  • M Tech in Computer Science and Engineering: BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Computer Science and Engineering / Information Technology or MCA with minimum aggregate of 50%.
  • M Tech in Material Science and Technology: BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Metallurgy/ Mechanical/ Chemical/ Production/ Industrial (or) MSc (Physics /Chemistry / Material Science / Nano Science and Technology) with minimum aggregate of 50%.
  • M Tech in Power Plant Engineering and Energy Management: BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electrical and Electronics Engineering/instrumentation with minimum aggregate of 50%.
  • M Tech in Manufacturing Technology and Automation : BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Mechanical/Production/Industrial/Automobile/Manufacturing/ Metallurgical /Mechatronics engineering with minimum aggregate of 50%.
  • M Tech in Power Electronics and Power systems: BE / BTech or equivalent degree in Electrical/Electrical and Electronics/Electronics and communication engineering with minimum aggregate of 50% or MSc Electronics from recognized university with minimum aggregate of 50%.
  • M Tech in Structural Engineering: : BE / B Tech or equivalent degree in Civil engineering with minimum aggregate of 50%.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks in Graduation will be made for ST/SC/OBC/PWD candidates.
  • Performance in GATE and/or OP Jindal University entrance test and personal interview.
  • Provisional admission will be given to students who are awaiting results - based on past performance.
  • Candidates may also be required to produce letter(s) of recommendation from their previous teachers.
  • General: These are full-time programs and will require students to dedicate themselves completely to the taught and research schedule. It is advisable for students to stay on campus in hostels which will also facilitate them in taking up assistantship opportunities. MTech students will be given single room accommodation subject to availability.

Admission Process*

  • Apply (Online/Offline) for the programs at OPJU School of Engineering, School of Management, School of Science
  • Application should be accompanied by non-refundable application Fee of Rs. 500* for Diploma, Undergraduate program, Rs 750* for Postgraduate Program and Rs 3,000 for Doctoral program payable online (Internet Banking/ Credit/ Debit card) or DD/ Bank Transfer
  • A merit list will be announced for eligible candidates for each round. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to appear for counselling. On subject to fulfillment of requisite conditions, eligibility and verification of documents a provisional admission offer letter will be issued to the candidate. The candidate is required to deposit the fee within stipulated date.
  • One Time Deposit(OTD) Rs 10,000 needs to be paid (All Course) within stipulated time mentioned in the offer letter. The OTD shall be adjusted towards enrollment Fee on confirmation of admission and in case of admissions cancellation by students OTD will be non-refundable.
  • If the candidate doesn’t pay full fee by the stipulated date, the admission would be deemed cancelled and the seat will become vacant for the next round of counseling.
  • There will be three rounds of counseling and after that if there are any unfilled seats, it will be filled on the basis of rolling counseling (First come first serve basis).
  • University reserve the right to cancel Admission at any stage of the admissions process without any notice if the student doesn’t meet minimum eligibility criteria for a particular program.

Scholarship and Assistantships

Scholarships and teaching/research assistantships are available for deserving meritorious students.Minimum requirement for scholarships is a score of 75% and above in the Qualifying exam. Each scholarship application will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee. The scholarships are given on an annual basis. To continue the scholarships after the first year, the student will have to maintain a minimum prescribed academic performance during the course of the programme.

Assistantships require students to commit minimum of 8 hours of work per week outside regular academic work, assisting professors on teaching or research projects. Typically an assistantship could pay a stipend of Rs. 2,500 to 5,000 per month depending on the type and quality of work undertaken.

Continuation of assistantship during each semester is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and satisfactory performance in the discharge of responsibilities assigned under the scheme.
