Policy for Teaching Associates


Introduction : OP Jindal University (OPJU) invites applications under Teaching Associates scheme from bright B.Tech/B.E. students who have a fire in their belly to excel and do not believe in mediocracy and wish to play leading constructive roles through academia, research and innovation in transforming the Nation as modern developed Nation. We at OPJU believe that every student has innate potential that can be unlocked through quality education and mentorship.

The candidates having B. Tech/B.E. degree in the areas of CSE/IT/EE/Civil/Metallurgy/Mechanical or related specialization with CGPA ≥ 7.0 or equivalent marks in relevant discipline shall be considered and inducted through a structured selection process. The selected candidates will be admitted in various M.Tech programs at OP Jindal University as per their B.Tech/B.E. specialization and get additional training and skills from leading academicians, industry experts and researchers. Selected candidates will be eligible for fellowships/stipends from the university as per rule during their course of study.


Objective:

M. Tech Program Aims to foster advanced learning and research in the respective field, and is designed with the specific purpose of identifying, nurturing and supporting young Technocrats in realizing their dreams to serve industry, R&D organizations and can take up an academic career, including further studies in a relevant Ph. D Program by nurturing a culture of research and innovation embracing cutting edge technology.

Admission Modality:

  • The candidates must have a B. Tech/B.E. degree with CGPA ≥ 7.0 or equivalent marks in a relevant discipline. The applicants who have completed or whose results are awaited may be considered for admission; however, if admitted, they must produce evidence of their having passed the qualifying degree examination with the minimum marks/grade (as specified in clause 1) within 8 weeks of the beginning of the semester, failing which their admission is liable to be canceled under this scheme.

  • Shortlisted candidates are required to appear in a written test followed by an interview.

  • Top 10 students from each specialization will be selected for Teaching Associates during their M. Tech. program at OPJU and will receive a stipend of Rs. 12,000/pm from the university under this scheme.

  • They shall be favorably considered for a full-time Ph.D. program at OPJU subjected to fulfillment of criteria laid down by the UGC.

  • All such students are required to stay in the university hostel for the entire course duration. Under no circumstances, day scholars will be allowed in this scheme.

  • Students will have the option to pursue his/ her 2nd year (3rd and 4th semesters) through the internship. In that case, a student will have to spend the entire 2nd year in the industry for the project work. If opt so, then during this period a student will not be entitled to receive a stipend from the university under this scheme.

  • Financial assistance will normally be for a maximum period of one years (2 semesters). In no case, it will be extended beyond 2 years.

  • Students receiving fellowships from the university will be required to perform academic duties assigned to them by the departments as per rules in force from time to time.

  • The continuation of the assistantship/fellowship will be subject to the satisfactory performance of the duties assigned by the department and satisfactory progress in the postgraduate program.Financial assistance of the candidates failing to secure minimum pass grades in the semester examination would be stopped without any prior notice.

  • Due to any reason students who discontinue the program are required to refund the entire stipend/fellowship amount received during his/her stay in the university.

  • All the selected students shall be abide by the leave rule of the university.

  • In case of any dispute or discrepancy the decision of the Vice Chancellor-OPJU will be final and shall be binding on the candidate.
